The Environmental Working Group argues that farm policy should do more to support healthy diets. It notes that corn and soybean farmers received far larger subsidies than fruit and vegetable growers, and that corn and soybeans are mainly used for feed and fuel.
The argument is advocacy for subsidy reform, and any policy change would be years away, so it has little near-term effect on corn or soybean meal prices.
