Russia's grain exports are constrained by limited port infrastructure at home. Since Moscow annexed Crimea in 2014, Russian traders can no longer use Ukraine's Black Sea ports, which can handle 52 million tonnes of grain.
Shipments from Crimean ports Sevastopol and Kerch have also been complicated by legal issues.
Reduced access to Black Sea export capacity tightens Russia's effective export flow, which can support wheat and corn offer prices for buyers. The impact is gradual and largely already priced in, so the move is modest.
