The US ambassador warned China against curbing American soybean imports, which would escalate the trade dispute between the two countries. Soybeans were the top US farm export to China last year, worth over $12 billion.
Any Chinese curbs on US soybeans would reroute demand to South America and push up feed costs for Chinese livestock producers, supporting soybean and meal prices.
