India's buffalo meat exports are plunging as China cracks down on grey-channel imports following African Swine Fever in pork. Average prices for the lower-quality meat fell from a peak of US$3.18 per kilogram in July 2018 to US$2.99 by year-end.
Falling carabeef prices reduce the global low-end beef price floor, with limited direct impact on Australian exports since the product competes mainly in markets where Australia lacks access. Feed and grain demand effects are minimal.
