The FAO vegetable oil price index fell 4.4% in March to 128 points, its second lowest level in eleven years. Palm oil oversupply in Malaysia and Indonesia, weak demand, and large Canadian rapeseed stocks drove the decline.
Falling vegetable oil prices reflect ample palm supply and stagnant demand, keeping feedstock costs low for feed and oilseed processors. Biofuel policy changes remain the key swing factor for future prices.
