The FAO vegetable oil price index fell 12% over the past marketing year and dropped 1.6% in June to its lowest since December 2018. Declines in palm and soybean oil drove the index lower, while sunflower and rapeseed oil held up on smaller expected harvests.
Broad weakness in palm and soyoil reflects sluggish demand and ample supply, while sunflower and rapeseed firmness shows tighter competing supplies.
