China falls short of U.S. trade commitments

China purchased $23.5 billion of U.S. agricultural products in 2020, well short of the $36.6 billion Phase 1 commitment, according to Peterson Institute data. Analysts said China was not focused on the pact and that the 2021 target may be reached mainly because commodity prices have risen.
