The euro held below $1.06 and was last down 0.6% at $1.052 after ECB President Lagarde said the bank would move gradually but could act decisively if medium-term inflation deteriorated. The ECB is widely expected to raise rates in July to curb soaring inflation.
A firmer dollar against the euro tends to make US dollar-priced grains and meal less competitive for European buyers and can weigh on dollar-denominated commodity prices.
