Continued rain in Ukraine has delayed sunflower harvesting, with only 10% of the area threshed by September 15. Purchase prices rose to UAH 15,500-16,500/t, and the sunflower harvest is forecast to fall to 9-10 million tons from 17.5 million last year.
A sharply reduced Ukrainian sunflower crop cuts meal and oil export availability and supports prices. Rot losses from excess rain could reduce supply further.
