EU lawmakers approved a ban on goods linked to deforestation covering soy, beef, palm oil, wood, cocoa, coffee, rubber and charcoal. Malaysia has said it could halt palm oil exports to the EU in response, and Indonesia and Malaysia have accused the EU of blocking market access.
A possible Malaysian export halt to the EU, the third-largest palm oil import market, would tighten exportable supply and could support palm oil prices, while EU import demand risk weighs on sentiment.
