Breakwave's bi-weekly dry bulk report says Panamax spot rates are up more than 60% from recent lows, with Supramax rates following more slowly, driven by strong grain and coal demand. Capesize earnings remain in the middle of their three-month range of 11,000-15,000 while China's property sector stress continues.
Stronger Panamax and Supramax freight raises the cost of shipping grain from the Americas and Black Sea, which can narrow FOB export margins for feed grains and meal.
