DTN's growing-season update warns of drought in the Southwest, Plains and Upper Midwest, with flooding in the Ohio and Lower Mississippi valleys. It expects La Niña to fade to neutral and forecasts a hotter, drier summer that is unfavourable for crop development across much of the US.
A hot, dry summer over the US Corn Belt and Plains would threaten yield potential for corn and soybeans. That risk supports prices and raises feed input costs.
