Profundo, a Dutch research group, estimated EUDR compliance costs at about 0.1% of revenue for the 12 companies it studied. Industry groups, including the EU vegetable oil association, called the methodology flawed.
Compliance costs appear small, so the regulation is unlikely to reduce EU imports of soy or palm oil much. Dispute over the estimate leaves the market impact uncertain.
