The EU has classified four countries as high risk under its deforestation regulation, which covers soy, beef, palm oil, timber, cocoa, coffee and chocolate. Brazil and Indonesia have opposed the law as burdensome and costly.
Higher compliance checks on imports from high-risk origins could add cost and friction to soy and palm oil flows, though the direct price effect for feed buyers is modest.
