US cattle futures fell by expanded daily limits on Monday after President Trump complained that beef prices were too high. Traders expect the administration to encourage more beef imports, including a plan to quadruple low-tariff Argentine beef, and may cut tariffs on Brazilian beef.
Expectations of higher beef imports weigh on US cattle prices and reduce demand for feed to finish cattle domestically, pressuring feeder and live cattle values.
