Palm oil prices could rise up to 30% over the next few months, according to industry executives and analysts speaking at the Indonesia Palm Oil Conference in Bali. The forecast rests on Indonesia's planned expansion of its biodiesel mandate and a weak production growth outlook.
Diverting more palm oil into Indonesian biodiesel would cut exportable supply and tighten global vegetable oil availability, supporting palm and competing oils. Higher oil prices feed through to meal and feed costs for buyers.
