Argentine Economy Minister Sergio Massa announced a new preferential exchange rate program that lets crushers buy 25% of soybeans at a 785 peso financial dollar rate, with the rest at the official 350 peso rate. The blended rate averages about 440-450 pesos per dollar.
Crushing has fallen to a 15-year low, and a decree detailing the scheme was still pending.
The scheme should lift farmer sales and crushing activity, supporting soybean meal and oil output and export supply, while the blended exchange rate improves crusher margins.
