WWF welcomed the European Parliament's 13 September vote for a stronger deforestation regulation. MEPs added other wooded land, more product checks, clearer definitions, and a broader product scope.
The financial sector would also be subject to the rules.
A broader product scope and more checks would increase traceability costs for EU importers of soy, palm oil, and corn, supporting firmer feed-protein and oilseed prices.
