Australia's DAFF issued an industry advice notice alerting exporters to the EU Deforestation Regulation, which applies from 30 December 2024. It covers cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soya and wood, and products such as beef and leather.
Many implementation details are still pending from the European Commission.
Compliance requirements for beef and soy exports to the EU could raise costs for exporters and tighten eligible supply. Implementation details remain uncertain, so price effects are limited for now.
