The Canadian Dairy Commission set the farmgate milk price to rise 2.8% in 2027, an increase of about 2.6 cents per litre, following a 2.3% rise the previous year. The decision was announced October 30 after consultation with dairy producers, processors and retailers.
A higher regulated farmgate milk price raises input costs for Canadian processors making milk, cheese, yogurt and butter. The effect on global dairy prices is modest given the small size of the increase.
After 17 past bullish policy events, Milk (Class III) moved a median -0.6% over 5 sessions (29% higher; middle half -1.6% to +0.2%), and -3.0% over 20.
