After India removed wheat export restrictions in August, the value of wheat exports rose to nearly 6.5 billion rupees in September, about four times the level reported for the preceding period. Exporters said demand from neighboring countries—including Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates, Nepal and Sri Lanka—had increased, while domestic wheat stocks stood at 46 million tonnes.
Higher Indian exports add wheat to the international market and give importers another source of supply, which can weigh on prices. Continued exports may depend on domestic stock levels and whether the government reinstates restrictions.
After 375 past bearish trade events, Wheat (SRW) moved a median -0.2% over 5 sessions (47% higher; middle half -2.0% to +1.1%), and -0.1% over 20.
