Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals awarded an EPC contract for a roughly ₹3,000 crore phosphoric- and sulphuric-acid project at Sikka, intended to support DAP and NPK fertilizer production and improve plant utilization. Management said the facility, expected to take 30–33 months to complete, will supply about half of the company’s acid requirements for those fertilizers; phosphate rock will still be sourced under long-term contracts at prevailing prices.
Captive acid production could reduce GSFC’s exposure to external acid supply and ease a production constraint, supporting fertilizer availability once the project is operating. It does not remove exposure to phosphate-rock prices, and the long construction timeline limits any near-term supply impact.
After 50 past bearish policy events, DAP moved a median +0.9% over 5 sessions (62% higher; middle half -0.1% to +1.6%), and +0.9% over 20.
