Egypt imported 2.73 million tonnes of Ukrainian wheat from January to October 2026, down 17.7% from the same period a year earlier. Egypt’s total wheat imports fell 6.2%; purchases from Romania, Bulgaria and Canada increased, partly offsetting declines from Ukraine and several other suppliers.
Lower Egyptian buying reduces demand for Ukrainian export wheat, while switching to alternative origins redistributes demand across suppliers. The overall decline in imports is modestly bearish for export wheat demand, though logistical uncertainty and higher prices are also cited as influences.
After 375 past bearish trade events, Wheat (SRW) moved a median -0.2% over 5 sessions (47% higher; middle half -2.0% to +1.1%), and -0.1% over 20.
