Independent carriers ended their strike at Chile's San Antonio port on November 6 after agreeing to an 8% increase in transport tariffs. The agreement also provides for carrier participation in tenders, tariff adjustments linked to freight costs and diesel, and working-capital loans for small transport companies.
Ending the blockade should restore port access and reduce delays to export shipments, including during Chile's cherry-export season. Higher trucking tariffs may raise transport costs, but no feed-commodity price impact is indicated.
