Mexico’s corn yield is 3.8 tonnes per hectare, below the reported global average of 6.1 tonnes and the US figure of 11.5 tonnes, according to the National Chamber of Industrialized Corn. The group also said Mexico produces 24.1 million tonnes, imports 24.2 million tonnes, and consumes an estimated 48.9 million tonnes annually; about half of consumption goes to livestock.
The large gap between domestic production and consumption underscores Mexico’s reliance on imports, including corn used in animal feed, supporting structural demand for imports. The figures describe an ongoing market balance rather than a new short-term supply shock.
After 1,040 past bullish report events, Corn moved a median +0.5% over 5 sessions (62% higher; middle half -0.9% to +2.0%), and +0.8% over 20.
