The EU Deforestation Regulation is scheduled to apply from 30 December 2026 to large and medium-sized companies placing covered products, including soy, cattle and palm oil, on the EU market. These companies must demonstrate that products are deforestation-free and submit due diligence statements; micro and small enterprises have until 30 June 2027.
Traceability and due diligence requirements may raise compliance, handling and segregation costs or limit access to the EU market for affected supply chains. This could add a modest cost premium to covered commodities, including soy.
After 356 past bullish policy events, Soybeans moved a median +0.1% over 5 sessions (53% higher; middle half -1.2% to +2.3%), and -0.9% over 20.
