USDA is scheduled to release its November Crop Production and WASDE reports on November 10. Ahead of the reports, surveyed estimates for the U.S. corn yield range widely from 173.2 to 185.5 bushels per acre, with the average calling for a modest reduction from October's estimate after earlier USDA releases added substantial supply.
The wide yield-estimate range raises the risk of a sharp market response to USDA's update. A lower yield estimate could tighten projected corn supply and support prices, while a higher estimate could add to recent bearish pressure.
After 770 past neutral report events, Corn moved a median +0.2% over 5 sessions (54% higher; middle half -1.1% to +1.6%), and +0.7% over 20.
