Soybean and vegetable-oil futures fell on November 5 as the rapid U.S. harvest and expectations for record soybean production weighed on prices. USDA data showed 88% of U.S. soybean acreage had been harvested by November 1, above the five-year average of 84%, while StoneX raised its yield forecast to 3.7 tonnes per hectare.
A faster harvest and expectations for a record crop add to near-term U.S. soybean availability, pressuring soybean and soybean-oil prices. The larger supply outlook is bearish for feed buyers’ soybean-related input costs.
