The Indian Rice Exporters' Federation warned that broken rice exports could face new restrictions if international prices, now above $360 per tonne, keep rising. Domestic wholesale broken rice prices rose 5.3% from October 10 to November 2, and ethanol demand is competing with exporters and poultry feed for the same grain.
A possible Indian curb on broken rice exports would tighten the thin global rice market and lift prices for feed and food importers. The ethanol competition for grain also adds pressure on domestic feed supply.
After 168 past bullish policy events, Rough Rice moved a median +0.8% over 5 sessions (57% higher; middle half -1.7% to +2.1%), and -0.4% over 20.
