The US Dollar Index traded near 101.50 on Thursday after bouncing from lows around 101.20, reversing earlier losses as attention moved from the midterm results to data. The ADP report showed 86K private jobs added in October, above the 69K expected, and the ISM Services PMI eased to 54.5 while staying in expansion territory.
Stronger US data and expectations of another Fed hike in December support the dollar, which weighs on dollar-denominated grain and oilseed prices and makes imports pricier for buyers in other currencies. The recent fall in oil prices is a partial offset.
After 2,356 past bullish macro events, US Dollar (Broad) moved a median +0.2% over 5 sessions (60% higher; middle half -0.3% to +0.7%), and +0.4% over 20.
