The EIA reported that U.S. distillate stocks, including diesel and heating oil, fell 3.6 million barrels in the week ended Oct. 30 to 99.3 million barrels, the lowest since May 2003 and about 13% below the five-year seasonal norm.
Commercial crude stocks dropped 865,000 barrels to 409.8 million, a fifth straight weekly decline, while refinery utilization rose to 94.5%.
Distillate stocks at a 23-year low ahead of the heating season tighten diesel supply and support diesel and crude prices, which feeds into farm fuel, trucking and fertilizer costs for feed producers.
