The IEA's Global Gas Security Review 2026 finds Europe entering winter with its lowest gas storage in more than a decade. It says tight conditions could persist well into 2027.
The report also notes that the effective halt of Hormuz LNG flows cut loadings from Qatar and the UAE by over 60 bcm from March to October, pushing Asian and European prices to their highest since the 2022-23 crisis.
Low European storage means the region must compete hard for LNG cargoes through winter, supporting high gas prices and firm demand for US LNG. Higher gas costs also raise the cost of nitrogen fertiliser and feed-processing energy.
After 74 past bullish report events, Natural Gas moved a median +1.3% over 5 sessions (55% higher; middle half -4.0% to +11.3%), and +2.1% over 20.
