Three years of Swedish trials tested mycoprotein, insect meal and mussel meal as replacements for soy and fishmeal in feed. Fish, pigs and laying hens performed comparably, while broiler growth was slower.
The project says scaling up will need investment, long-term purchasing commitments and clearer regulation.
If scaled, alternative proteins could reduce long-run demand for soymeal and fishmeal. The effect on current prices is negligible at this stage.
After 250 past neutral report events, Soybean Meal moved a median -0.1% over 5 sessions (49% higher; middle half -1.6% to +1.7%), and +0.4% over 20.
Not enough comparable past events yet for a historical read.
Moves of each commodity's benchmark from the last close before the event. Historical reads pool past events of the same kind; they describe what happened, not what will. Not investment advice.
