Argentine soymeal, which normally trades at a discount to Brazilian meal, has moved to parity with Brazilian FOB prices since September because of the upcoming EU Deforestation Regulation. In the second half of October, a bearish move hit Brazilian FOB much harder than Argentine FOB, opening a gap of more than 4%.
Argentine meal is gaining relative demand from EU buyers who need traceable supply, which supports its FOB price against Brazil. The unusual gap points to a shift in export competition ahead of the regulation's start on 1 January 2027.
After 206 past neutral policy events, Soybean Meal moved a median -0.4% over 5 sessions (44% higher; middle half -2.3% to +1.8%), and -0.7% over 20.
