A UNAM study led by Elena Álvarez-Buylla Roces found GMO content in over 90% of tested tortillas and over 80% of other corn meal products. The researchers said the results surprised them given the restrictions on commercial GMO corn planting since 2013.
The findings may fuel consumer and regulatory pressure on GMO corn in Mexico, but they do not change near-term import volumes or prices.
After 3,207 past report events, CORN moved a median +0.2% over 5 sessions (54% higher; middle half -1.3% to +1.7%), and +0.5% over 20.
