Glanbia has not offered spring gluten-free oat contracts to around 20 growers in Ireland because winter contract uptake covered most orders. The 2016 gluten-free contract price was €182/t, a €60/t premium over standard feed oats.
Fewer premium contracts reduce demand for gluten-free milling oats, which tends to leave surplus oats to be sold at feed-grade prices.
