The International Finance Corporation is lending $37 million to MV Cargo to build a grain terminal at the Black Sea port of Yuzhny. The terminal can handle up to 5 million tonnes of grain a year and is planned to open in spring 2018.
Total project cost is about $150 million.
The added port capacity could lower logistics costs and lift Ukrainian grain exports over time. The effect on prices is long term and small in the near term.
