Tanzania has set new regulations for fertiliser imports through a bulk procurement system and awarded a tender for 55,000 tonnes of urea and DAP to Moroccan OCP and local firm Premium Agro Chem. Government indicative prices by zone were introduced, with 50kg bags priced between Tsh52,000 and Tsh100,000.
A planned $3 billion domestic fertiliser factory was also referenced.
A centrally procured tender adds modest near-term demand for urea and DAP from Morocco, but the scale is small relative to global trade, so the price impact is limited.
After 26 past neutral policy events, Urea moved a median -1.0% over 5 sessions (27% higher; middle half -4.1% to +0.6%), and -2.5% over 20.
After 29 past neutral policy events, DAP moved a median +0.2% over 5 sessions (55% higher; middle half -0.4% to +1.3%), and +1.9% over 20.
