Providence Grain Group plans to hire one or two ships to remove about 27,000 tonnes of wheat and durum semolina stored at the Port of Churchill since 2015. The grain was stranded in July 2016 when Omnitrax laid off workers and suspended shipments.
The company says the grain has been blocked from sale for more than a year.
The shipment is small and mostly clears stranded inventory, so it has little effect on wheat supply or prices. It does not signal any reopening of the Churchill port.
After 163 past neutral logistics events, Wheat (SRW) moved a median +0.1% over 5 sessions (53% higher; middle half -1.3% to +1.1%), and -0.3% over 20.
