GROWMARK and COFCO International signed a grain partnership that includes joint ownership of a barge, truck and rail terminal at Cahokia, Illinois, plus a grain origination agreement. The facility has rail loops, truck lanes and two barge loading belts, and the partners say it will link Midwest growers directly to China.
A direct origination link to China's main soybean importer can add export capacity and firm demand for US soybeans. The effect on prices is incremental, since the terminal's volume is small relative to total US exports.
After 696 past bullish trade events, Soybeans moved a median +0.3% over 5 sessions (54% higher; middle half -1.3% to +1.9%), and +0.7% over 20.
