USDA's Livestock, Dairy and Poultry Outlook reported that pork packer margins rebounded in November after sharp October declines. Gross packer margin averaged almost $25 per cwt, over 21% above October, as the pork carcass value rose about 9% and offset a 6% increase in hog prices.
Stronger wholesale pork values and lower-than-expected slaughter support hog prices, and packers' ability to pay more for hogs points to firm live hog demand.
