Greenpeace criticized a European Commission report by COWI that identifies beef, soy and palm oil as deforestation drivers, saying its proposed interventions do not go far enough. The Commission report says the EU accounts for 7-10% of global consumption of deforestation-linked crops and livestock products.
Pressure for stronger EU rules on soy and palm oil could eventually add sourcing requirements for feed-relevant commodities. The report itself does not yet impose any measures, so the immediate price effect is small.
