The CFTC has released a report assessing how expanding LNG trade affects markets. It says the U.S. became a net LNG exporter in 2016, with export capacity of about 10 Bcf/d, and that growing exports could put upward pressure on U.S. gas prices.
Expanding U.S. LNG exports tie domestic gas prices more closely to global markets, which could raise domestic natural gas costs and the input costs of fertilizer and energy for feed producers.
