India raised its DAP fertilizer subsidy by 140% to Rs 1,200 per bag on 19 May, holding the farmer price flat after manufacturers had raised prices 46-60%. The government also increased the total 2021-22 fertilizer subsidy outlay to Rs 94,305 crore.
The subsidy keeps domestic DAP demand from falling and sustains import needs, which supports global phosphate prices. Government support limits the cost hit to Indian farmers but does not reduce the underlying global price pressure.
After 151 past bullish policy events, DAP moved a median +0.0% over 5 sessions (50% higher; middle half -0.6% to +0.9%), and +1.9% over 20.
