Egypt's Minister of Trade and Industry raised the planned export fee on nitrogen fertilizers to EGP 500 per tonne from EGP 125 for one year. The decision responds to producers failing to deliver their domestic agricultural quotas, with only 618,500 t delivered out of 1.35 million t allocated from March to June.
Restricting exports to surplus volumes reduces the nitrogen available to international buyers and supports global urea prices. The move follows a similar Egyptian duty increase announced days earlier.
After 129 past bullish policy events, Urea moved a median -0.1% over 5 sessions (47% higher; middle half -1.3% to +2.3%), and +1.4% over 20.
