The China Feed Industry Association is considering lowering crude protein and soybean meal content in pig and chicken feed because trade tensions with the US have reduced supplies and raised soy prices. Public comments were accepted until October 15, and the government must approve the guidelines before implementation.
China imports more than 90 million tonnes of soybeans per year.
Possible reduction in soymeal inclusion would lower China's future soybean import needs, a bearish factor for soybeans and soymeal given China's dominance of global trade.
