Indonesian smallholder growers asked the government to cancel the domestic sales requirement introduced in late May. They say the policy blocks mills from selling stocks abroad and keeps fresh fruit bunch prices low.
Prices had already collapsed about 70% after an earlier export ban.
Removing the domestic sales obligation would let Indonesian exporters ship more palm oil, tightening export supply and supporting world palm prices. It would also lift the farm-gate prices that smallholders receive.
After 548 past bullish policy events, Palm Oil moved a median +0.4% over 5 sessions (61% higher; middle half -0.7% to +2.1%), and +0.9% over 20.
