USDA's March 29 Grain Stocks and Prospective Plantings reports showed corn stocks and corn planting intentions far above pre-report estimates, with corn intentions at 92.8 million acres. Wheat and soybean stocks were also above expectations, and soybean acreage intentions fell to 84.6 million.
Corn futures fell 17 cents, wheat 6 to 10 cents and soybeans 5 cents.
A large corn acreage intention and surprise stocks signal a heavy feed grain supply ahead, which is bearish for feed prices. Flooding could still reduce planted acres.
