Taiwan reported six new H5N2 highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreaks in poultry between 18 and 29 July, affecting over 57,000 birds. In Vietnam, an H5N6 outbreak led to 4,700 poultry being destroyed in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province in early August.
The losses are small relative to total poultry supply, so price effects are limited. Repeated outbreaks in Asia could still tighten local poultry supply and support demand for imported chicken and feed.
