Taiwan has reported four new highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreaks in poultry over the past two weeks, involving at least two and possibly three HPAI virus types, including H5 and H5N5. The affected flocks were mainly native chickens and meat ducks, and the infected birds were culled.
Officials are tracing the source of the H5N5 cases.
Small outbreaks in Taiwan's native-chicken and duck flocks have limited effect on global poultry supply, though they can trigger regional import restrictions.
